Summer is the perfect time for mushroom picking. If you know your way around mushrooms, don’t hesitate to go for porcini – for your health! A relaxing forest walk is one benefit, and what you collect in your basket is another. Contrary to common belief, mushrooms are highly nutritious.
Some edible mushrooms contain naturally occurring vitamins and minerals, such as B vitamins or potassium. Being low in calories, they are perfect for those watching their weight. They contain compounds such as beta-glucans, which are being studied for their nutritional properties.
One Polish scientific publication highlights that mushrooms exhibit various biological activities and can be a valuable part of the human diet, including popular species such as the porcini mushroom. If you’re interested, see: M. Siwulski et al., Nutritional and Health-Promoting Value of Mushrooms.
Traditional Asian medicine also values certain mushrooms. In China, Cordyceps sinensis is highly regarded; in Japan, it’s shiitake and maitake. Agaricus blazei Murill, or almond mushroom from Brazil, is gaining global recognition as well.
If you want to enrich your diet with the nutrients from these mushrooms but don’t have access to them in nature or cuisine, we recommend the dietary supplement 4Life Transfer Factor Plus. It contains extracts from maitake, shiitake, cordyceps, and Brazilian mushroom, along with other natural ingredients and zinc, which:
- contributes to the normal function of the immune system
